Jim Shaw is a veteran music educator and currently serves as the Director of Bands at Willow Wood Junior High School in Tomball, Texas. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in music education and performance from West Texas A&M University and has completed post-graduate work in school leadership and policy studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to his appointment at Willow Wood, Jim taught in Harlingen, Midland, and Klein (all in Texas). 

Jim is excited to join Guardian as a consultant and to begin work in a field in which he can help other directors and groups provide high quality experiences to their students and members. He has many great memories of travel experiences while a student and as a teacher, and he loves to travel with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Emily and Elliot. Although based in Texas, he describes himself as a “New York City geek,” having visited the city numerous times. One of his favorite hobbies is studying New York City’s history, architecture, food, landmarks, and attractions, both well-known and obscure.
