Kelly TempleTravel Consultant
KTemple@GuardianTravelGroup.com Kelly Temple is a mid-school and high school choral director with a passion to inspire a diversity of youth in performance arts education. Kelly believes that performance gifts and talents reside in everyone and that there is a way to cultivate these gifts and talents in every student which inspires a personal desire to perform. With 22 years of experience, Kelly’s diligent work has earned her choirs the privilege of being twice selected as New Mexico’s High School All-State Honor Choir. A highlight in 2001, the Zia Chamber Choir performed at Pope Joy Hall as one of the few mid-school Honor Choirs to be selected to perform at a High School All-State. Again in 2009, the Onate Royal Knight Singers took the stage with a performance that inspired her fellow music colleagues. Kelly’s tenure as a choral director pushed into new avenues of creating the Onate High School Legends Show Choir and directing four musicals with the most recent one being “Hairspray Jr.” Kelly is an active member of National Association for Music Education, NAfME, and American Choral Directors Association, ACDA. She has served as co-chair for the New Mexico High School All-State ensemble. She has scheduled and chaired the New Mexico High School All-State auditions for the past four years. Kelly is a co-founder of the NMACDA Youth All-State for New Mexico and has served as its audition chair several times. Kelly was honored with being selected as a clinician for the Ruidoso area small school all-city choir. Kelly has chaired and scheduled many Large Group competitions and Music Performance Assessments. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Bethel College located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kelly also holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration from New Mexico State University. Kelly excitedly attended two Choral School programs at Concordia College under the direction of Dr. René Clausen. Kelly has been married for twenty-seven years to her husband who is also an educator. She has two sons, one who has graduated from William Jewell College with a Business Administration degree and the other one who has just finished his first year at the United States Air Force Academy. When not teaching, you might find Kelly on a pool deck as a US Swim Official. This is a hobby she began due to her sons being very competitive swimmers. Also, along with her husband, Kelly is a Youth Sponsor at her church where she plans mission trips, retreats and weekly lessons. This is just another way she gets to work with youth to inspire them to their fullest potential. Kelly is a few years from retirement and is so excited to be joining the Guardian staff to plan the perfect trip for any ensemble. This has been a passion of hers even before learning of this great opportunity. |
