Kirk Hickman is a 20 year Veteran music educator Who previously taught at: Hinsdale South High School, Naperville North, Lincoln-Way North High School, Johnsburg High School, Capital Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, McHenryCommunity College. His areas of instruction include: Concert Bands, orchestra, Beginning Strings, Piano, Music Technology, Marching Band, Jazz, AP Music theory, and he was a Curriculum writer for SD203 K-12 Band and Orchestra Curriculum, as well as writing Music Production curriculum for the District..
Under his direction, ensemble recognitions include: Class 4A Champions at Jazz in the Meadows 2019, 1st place in Large Group Combo at Jazz in the Meadows 2018, and Grand Champions at the ISU Jazz Festival 2015. Seven consecutive Illinois State Class 4A Marching Band Champions, two Bands of America Class 3A Regional Championships, and seven BOA Regional Finals appearances. ILMEA Convention performances with Percussion Ensemble 2011, Jazz Ensemble 2015 & 2019 and IHSA Boy’s Basketball Official Pep-Band 2015. Music for All National Festival 2017 and 2017, 2018 & 2020 SuperState.
Academically, Mr. Hickman attended Northern Illinois University for his undergraduate degree in Music Education and the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago for his Master’s Degree in music education.
